Port de Soller Sept. 07 – Sept. 14 2023
Restriction in health is a serious barrier for travelling. If you never try to get over this barrier, you will miss an essential part of live: exploring new territories, meeting people and attempting new cultures. We tried it, had to pay our tribute but in the end, we could enjoy a week full small stories.

Knowing about overtourism in Mallorca we choose our destination in the northern part of the island: Port de Soller (Catalan) or Puerto de Soller (Spanish).

What will you find in my report:

Soller is a town north of the Tramuntana mountains. Citrus fruits were and are the prime product out of this region. Due to regular attacks from pirates and strange forces the settlement was placed in distance to the coast. Only a small village for fishers was established in the bay about 4 km north of Soller. 1912 the railroad from Plama to Soller started its regularly traffic. The distance between the two stations is 27 km, not enough to get subsidy. This was one of the main reasons to enlarge the line to Port de Soller for getting the minimum needed 30 km distance. Today this is the famous tramway not only for tourists.

The comfortable travelling network with train and tram attracted early tourism. For long time travelling by car was forced to cross over the mountains at an elevation of 496 meters over sea. A 3 km long tunnel opened not until 1999 shortened travelling to this northern region.
Today Port de Soller offers several comfort hotels and a diversity of restaurants. Shops in the small downtown and port with excursion ships make this spot attractive for vacation.

For the photographers, I used a 26 MP APS-C Fujifilm X-T30 with a Fujinon tele lens xf 18-135 and for night/flight picturing a TTArtisan 1.4 f, 35 mm lens with manual focusing
