Port de Soller
Beach

The relatively small beach in the bay has its own charm with promenade and tramway in the background. Scenery changes from dawn to dusk. In the morning you can observe cleaning team on work on the beach and lots of sportive joggers.

From dawn to dust scenery in front of our hotel changes.

Downtown

Starting the day with a coffee and some cookies is always a good idea. The relatively small town- center with shops is cute and charming with its people.

If you walk to the periphery, you will find nice and typical vegetation.

Port

Sunrise is a nice process. Step for step hills and light tower get illuminated, colors change and scenery texture and architected structures become visible.

The bay of Port de Soller basically has three parts: western part with ships at their moored buoy, northeastern part at the old town with its old fisher boats and in the middle the noble part with motor and sailing yachts. There are some rich men who can spend a lot of money for yachting, buying or renting.

Huge yachts are impressive, but the old fisher boats are handsome at the pier.

Old town

In the northeastern part you find the historical old town. Buildings are settled close together, streets are narrow. Steep are the ways up to the hill, where the maritime museum can be visited. From the place at the museum, you have a great view to the mediterranean Sea, sailing boats enters and leave the channel to the bay and sportive people prove their skills on the open sea.

Terrain is steep and cliffs scary. Looking up to the hills behind old town you see an inclined rock needle, Es Penyal Bernat de s’Illeta.

Electrical installations are sometimes just amusing.

Tram

Nearly no picture of Port de Soller without the famous tram, it is omnipresent. Sitting with a coffee near the station and looking to crowds leaving arriving trams is enjoyable. People are happy, people are searching, people are stressed – you see all textures of facial expressions.

Westen Bay

The morning is little cloudy and we decide to have a look to the western part of the bay. Cats alongside our tour have no foreboding to the weather change, also we haven't. We cross the Torrent Major, the dry river bed out of Soller. After checking goods in some shops, we take place in front of a restaurant and order two coffees. In the bay the boats at their moored buoy dances around with changing winds. Sky gets darkened and then it goes fast! The sea gets vivid. Down bursts from the mountain meet winds coming in from sea via the channel. With a bang they produce a mini tornado around 30 m away from us. Racks with hats for selling together with chairs are twisted in the air. We escape into the restaurant for shelter. With the wind comes the rain.

We got our coffees inside and followed the weather with strong winds and some rain. After half an hour we could leave. Crossing the tramway sun returned and only few wet spots on the rad showed what has happened. Tram made its tour as usual.

Nighttime

I like the moment when daylight disappears, the sky changes its color from yellow to dark blue and city lights starts to shine. Night scenery has for me some mystic aspects, you don’t see all details, lights from cars and street lantern additionally manipulate your viewing.
